These concepts are for the Vive Pro, and are built around the idea of Altruism.
Altruism is the belief in or practice of disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others. - (Oxford Dictionary)
We started with mood boards on pinterest to try and guide us towards some ideas, with my mood board I ended up focusing on the elderly and elephants both these groups of beings can greatly benefit from Altruism.
For my consumer facing entertainment title I want to do a VR mountaintop summit experience. Many older people are no longer about to get out into the great outdoors and go hiking anymore, especially to the top of a mountain.
To create this project we will be taking photos of each mountaintop in different seasons and use them to generate the scene in VR. It will use audio and visuals to make the user feel like they are truly standing on the top of the mountain. They can move around by using the teleportation method but there wont be much movement needed, therefor people in any physical shape can experience it. In a wheelchair, walker, or otherwise. I hope this piece will restore some peoples sense of wonder, exploration, and awe. Serve as a reminder how beautiful life is and can still be, as well as empower them.
This would be made for the Vive Pro and would be advertised and marketed Retirement Homes for activities days/nights, also directly to the elderly themselves if more of them start to own VR equipment.
The content would come out in packs, like seasons, specific mountain ranges, tallest mountains, etc. To go more with the theme of altruism I hope that this would be successful enough among all people that we would be able to offer it to retirement homes themselves free of charge.
For my non-entertainment title I wanted to do an educational experience on Elephants. A great species that due to climate changes, deforestation, and poaching we could lose in our future. I hope to not only show the user film and an experience that will make them feel positive about the elephants and also provide information about why we are losing and what people can do to help.
I imagine that it would structurally be set up with menus similar to how they were in the Perspective: Paradise VR experience. Where there is a menu that they are looking down at while in a forest and from there they can click on different experiences and watch the elephants, videos of educators speaking about the issue, and other helpful information. This experience will be free in attempt to spread the message as much as possible to help save the elephants.
