Unimportant fact to start off with, I am terrible at coming up with Blog Titles.
Moving on.
This week for my VLD piece I chose to do a cloak, since it is a very common item on fantasy characters that I will be most likely drawing a lot of in the future. This one taught me something about color. Looking back at all three drawings I really love the first one, the colors are just working so well together. I am going to try and pull that into my pieces.

For my character turnaround this week I worked differently again. I used color in all poses, and did not include a 3/4 view... I noticed while looking at a lot of other character concepts online that they didn't have all 4 poses? I decided a 3/4 view wouldn't really add anything either? I also added more into the background, which may be bad? But I wanted to give it more feeling for what I was going for...

I started watching the Castlevania series on Netflix and was inspired.
I started with some sketches in my sketchbook trying to get an idea. The first one on the right was just based off most gargoyles you see kinda sitting in a crouched/perched position. I didn't like this pose as it felt too stiff and symmetrical so I thought one of it crawling down a building would be cooler.
I wanted to make the pose even more dynamic so I thought if she was also coming forward it would be even better. For my next full drawing I decided to try something else new as well. Doing the paining completely in grey scale before adding color (which there wont be too much of) because it is all stone.
