Inspirational Art Find
I'll start off with my inspirational/cool find of the week. This places has definitely become a must go to destination for me. I think I shared a bit of it when I was talking about Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrors pieces in a previous blog post. But this video below shows several different art installations all at the Mori Digital Art Building in Tokyo by teamLab.
I did see a video of it with a bunch of people in it however and it made me kinda sad, many of the exhibits were crowded and noisy and I think that greatly takes away from the experiences. I would want to experience it more alone or with just a few people I think it is way more immersive that way.
Digital Painting // Thesis Project
This week I continued to work on my digital painting. I decided to change the under colors of the painting to be more cool tones, since it will be both blueish and then have a warm wash coming over it . Then I painted the ground and the sky to get a bit more direction there and after that I mainly focused on getting my turtles painted. The next step will be to build the background up more and then keep building on the painting adding more details etc.
As far as the physical part of my piece goes I purchased the painting tarps and painters tape so I can prep the area of the apartment I will be working on the piece. I still have to moves things out of that area and the whole reshuffle of the apartment is still an ongoing thing.
Human Computer Interactions - Servo Motor and Flex Sensor Arduino Uno Build
This week for Human and Computer Interactions we were asked to complete two of the examples from the book. The first one focused on the use of the Servo Motor as you can see below it is hooked up and moved between different positions based off of the code.

Then for the second one you change the positioning of the parts in the previous example and then add a flex sensor. A little strip that as you bend it, it creates inputs. I think this is a really fun way to have control over something. It is a new idea to me as it isn't something I think I have ever used before but upon looking more into it I saw that it is popular for more sentient stuffed animals, what was used in the Nintendo Power Glove, and also for security systems.
